I found this great tutorial on the not martha blog showing you how to make a skirt from jeans. I made it my own by using corduroys and sewing up some patchwork for the front panel. I think it turned out really nice and what a great way to recycle those pants you have laying around. Now, to keep them for myself or sell them……hmmmmm:)

Ok, not really. I sure wish it was though:) This Spring Daisies Patchwork skirt is really putting me in a warm weather mood. It’s the first skirt in my spring collection. You can check it out at my Etsy shop.

It all starts with a sketch. I’m no artist so this part takes forever.
Now its time to draw the individual pieces on fusible webbing, stick on fabric, and cut them out. Then the pieces are ironed on to the skirt to form Domo Kun.
Next I have to do a tight satin stitch around all the pieces. This gives a nice border and secures the applique to the fabric.
And here’s the completed skirt. I just love how he peeks from the bottom of the skirt. Props to the hubby for such a unique applique idea. This skirt is available in my Etsy Shop.

I just finished this custom skirt for Tasha of Tasha Christie Baskets. She lives in my town and creates gorgeous baskets. This was my first time doing this style of tree applique. I really like how it turned out.
