Rainbow Brite Patchwork Dress

I’m a child of the 80′s which means I loved Rainbow Brite.  When I saw this Rainbow Brite pillow case at the thrift store I grabbed it as quick as I could and exclaimed “Score!” just a little too loudly:)  So after some debating on what to do with it this super fun dress came to mind.

Sewing it was so much fun.  How can you not smile while sewing with such fun bright colors?  The dress has a shirred back like the one I made for my friend Jamie’s birthday .  This means you can wear a bra underneath of it ladies.  Nice, huh?

Would you like this super fun dress for your very own?  I have it for sale in my Etsy shop.  I think it would be just perfect for festivals and Halloween.  A great way to stand out in a crowd.

Birthday Dress

A dear friend’s birthday was the inspiration for this dress.  She’s been wanting a patchwork dress for a long time to wear to concerts and festivals, but there was a problem.  Support.  That’s right, support.  I’m sure many of you ladies know what I’m talking about.  Hippie style patchwork dresses are gorgeous, but the back is open so no bras allowed:)  After quite a few nights of thinking it over here’s what I came up with:

Instead of an open back with a drawstring I faux smocked the back panel at the top.  That along with wider straps makes it perfect for wearing bras or tank tops underneath.

I really enjoyed the entire process of designing and creating this dress.  It was just the best feeling to see the smile on her face as she pulled the dress out of the box.   Happy Birthday Jamie.  Love ya!

Butterfly Love Patchy Bag

Dimensions- 12″ X 14″

Buying this super sweet bag is like buying 2 bags for the price of one. One side is a green corduroy with a purple heart applique. It might be a little hard to see but the heart fabric has little butterflies on it. The other side has 16 patchwork squares. This bag is fully lined with a tan cotton fabric. I also made it nice and roomy to hold all your stuff.

All clothing I sew is made to last. All seams are sewn with my serger for durability. I also top stitch where needed for a professional finish. I prewash all fabric to reduce shrinking and stop colors from bleeding.

Due to popular demand, this is the first of many larger size skirts I will be making. It is knee length and the waist goes out to a maximum of 52″. There are six linen pink panels and six cotton patchwork panels. The patchwork fabrics have floral and butterfly patterns. This skirt has a drawstring waist that can tie in the back or front.

This knee length skirt is perfect for hot summer days. It has 8 panels of green and tan fabrics. There is alternating patchwork at the bottom. There is one pocket on the left with a mushroom applique. This skirt has a drawstring waist that ties in the back. This is so you have a nice smooth front and a cute bustle in the back.
